Nadine Thouin

Guest Choreographer, Summer 2009

General and Artistic Director of Go-On Productions Inc, internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, stage and production director, Nadine Thouin is renowned for her boldness and creativity. Her prodigious career spans over 25 years, encompassing 27 productions performed in more than 20 countries and 40 cities around the globe.

Ms. Thouin began teaching dance and theater in 1985, and has since gone on to teach in more than 50 renowned academies and companies worldwide. In 1999, Canadian embassies and consulates recognized her as a cultural ambassador to Asia. Her creation Bone (2002-collaboration with the Beijing Modern Dance Company)-the first co-production between Canada and China-was the subject of a documentary film broadcast on Bravo TV. The documentary obtained the Jury’s Prize at the Lincoln Center in New York as part of Dance On Camera’s world tour and continues to be screened internationally. Her choreographic work was selected for study and analysis in 2004 at the Beijing Dance Academy in the frame of the art history program. She caught the attention of a new audience in 2006 , when she choreographed for the feature length film 300 (Warner Bros.) a Hollywood blockbuster released in 2007 and screened in theaters worldwide.

The International Exchange for Performing Arts has invited her to conduct a workshop-conference on cultural market development aimed at major members of the Canadian art scene. In 2006-7, she worked as partner and consultant for Cirque de Soleil, overseeing artistic development in China.

The publication The History & Appreciation of Foreign Dance (2008 by Professor Ou Jian Ping), cited Nadine Thouin as the Canadian modern dance representative of choice. Over the course of the past year, she worked extensively on a market study of the entertainment industry in Dubai (UAE) as well as presenting her most recent multimedia work Dust to Concrete.

To date she has toured three major works in China, (Cash, Bone, and Stop (2000-06)) at prestigious festivals and venues including the Cultural Palace of Nationality (Beijing), the Shanghai International Arts Festival, and the headline of the 3rd Guangdong Modern Dance Festival.
